Keynote
We are excited to have Derrick Jefferson, Associate Librarian at American University in Washington, DC as our keynote speaker. His research is focused on equity and diversity issues, specifically in higher education libraries, and mentoring new librarians to the profession. Jefferson was selected as an ALA Emerging Leader in 2015, is an alum of the Institute for Research Design in Librarianship at Loyola Marymount University, and currently chairs the ACRL Equity Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Representation matters, and he is keen on encouraging marginalized and underrepresented people of all walks of life to consider librarianship as a profession. Born and raised in Southern California, he once thought he’d become a pastry chef, and loves to cook and bake for friends. He enjoys tacos, golden age hip-hop, collecting records, and fellow introverts. He tweets at @geekandahalf.
