​Travel Grant

William & Mary Libraries Travel Grant: TILC 2025, Williamsburg, VA

TILC is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 William & Mary Libraries Travel Grant to attend the 2025 conference, held at William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA on June 5-6, 2025. The recipients are:
PictureDelandrus L. I. Seales, MLS, MAT

Delandrus L. I. Seales is a Teaching & Learning Librarian at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She has 15 years of experience in K-12 as a special education teacher and as a school librarian. Delandrus also worked as a public library branch manager in southeastern North Carolina. Ms. Seales earned her MLS degree from East Carolina University as an IMLS Laura Bush Scholarship recipient. Delandrus is currently a doctoral student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with research interests in learning, design, and technology. She serves on the board of the North Carolina Technology in Education Society as well as several committees involving online learning and instructional technology with the Association of College and Research Libraries, including as an ALA COLA Ecosystem Representative. Ms. Seales is also a member of BCALA. She is passionate about increasing inclusivity in the library and on campuses, especially for those within the non-traditional, veteran, and BIPOC communities. 

PictureAriana Varela, MLIS

Ariana Varela is the Head of Learning, Research & Engagement Services at California State University, Los Angeles. She received her MLIS from San Jose State University. She is interested in feminist pedagogy in library instruction, critical information literacy, and student-centered approaches to instruction and outreach.


The William & Mary Libraries Travel Grant helps someone from an underrepresented and/or marginalized group attend the conference by providing financial assistance. Underrepresented and/or marginalized groups are identified in accordance with the ALA’s Office of Diversity recruitment resources. Prior to 2020 the award was called The Innovative Library Classroom Travel Grant. See previous recipients here.
